Happy Valentine's Day!

There are many stories about how Valentine’s Day came to be but my favourite has to be the one about St. Valentine, the man who believed in love so deeply, he was willing to die for it. A man willing to die for love, every girl's dream! 

Legend has it that during the Ancient Roman times Emperor Claudius II deemed it illegal for young men to get married. He felt that the single, childless men were far superior soldiers than any other. So, a man later called St. Valentine began to perform secret, forbidden marriages for young lovers up until the day he was caught and sentenced to death. 

If there is one thing that I love about Valentine’s Day - it’s the unilateral understanding, whether you like the day or not, that it is all about love. And what that means to you is completely subjective. Whether it’s love for yourself, love for your family, your friends, a specific person or even just a pet - the day is all about celebrating love.

But there are so many other reasons to love the day! 

It’s the only day of the year where nothing you do can be judged. A day where it is acceptable to consume chocolate for every meal. The only day you can go out with the boys and drink pink drinks all night because “they’re on special”. (And because pink drinks are delicious! Don’t worry boys, your secret’s safe with us.) The only day you can buy yourself flowers and not feel like a complete loser. It’s a good reason to throw on some red lipstick, get dressed up and go out with your friends or keep the red lipstick, dress down and have a night in with a bottle of wine and line up a marathon of the cheesiest rom coms.
